Took a day off from running today. I was at a cookout all day/night yesterday and needless to say I do not feel up to running. Had one too many beers!
I played soccer for about an hour and a half. Just got a smoothie at Juice and Java and am going to spend the rest of my night watching the X Games.
Signed up for a 5k on 8/6 and the harrisburg half which is on 9/11.

50 minute fartlek with my bro. We went out a little fast, slowed in the middle, and finished strong. We had a little detour because of gay pride week, but the only thing that caused was a lot of staring(or gazing) since we were shirtless. Overall a great run in hot weather.

Hills and Intervals
7/27 - 12 400m intervals at a 6:40-7 minute pace with 1:15 jog in between
7/28 - HILLS. Ran 3.5 miles of hills are varying inclines.
I think hills is the missing link to my training. I have been doing everything else. 200m intevals, 400m intervals, 800m intervals, long runs, fartleks, etc. I have left out hills just because I don't have any close to my house. I will not do that anymore and vow to run hills atleast once a week.
I was surprised how winded and fatigued I got from running up a fairly big hill. I expected the fatigue but not the cardio problems.
Tomorrow will be my day off. Heading to Hershey Park with my bro, Kayt, and my cousin. Saturday morning I'll be at it again.

First Post
I've created this blog to track my running progress over the next few months/years. I will not only be documenting my running but also whatever happens in my daily life. It may interest some people and bore others. Probably interest 5% of people and bore 95% depending on my candidness. If I said everything that happened in my life it would probably be more like 50/50.
I'm 27 years old and just took up running last year. I ran a 5k in April 2010 with a time of 26:XX barely edging out my step dad. Quite a humiliating experience. From that point on, I forced myself to become a better runner. Eventually I began to like running which I used to think was an almost idiotic statement. How could someone like running??
Running for me has become a way to relieve stress, meet new people, eat healthier, not drink so much, relax, and just enjoy all my surroundings. I try to instill my love for running on everyone I meet. I feel my passion for running will never fade, however I can't say that for sure. I can say that right now in my life when I don't run I feel like my day is not complete and it really bothers me. Running heals everything. I promise you that no matter who you are, if you go out and run as fast as you can for 30 minutes all your problems will fade for those 30 minutes.
Alright, well since this is my first post I'm not sure when to stop or what to do. I ran 10 400m intervals today at a 6 minute pace. It was pretty painful and I had to take an extra few minutes between one interval.

I've recently switched to minimalist shoes which I'll talk about in my next post.
