was sick feeling better
I have been feeling sick since Sunday but feel much better. I ran Tuesday, Wednesday, and today. Tuesday and Wednesday were some of the most painful runs mostly because I was sick. I had one of the best runs I have had in a long time this evening. Not really sure why. It wasn't really fast or really long but it did feel really good. I just went out and ran. It was a cool, calm night and just felt great. I thought it was going to not go so well because I did intervals this morning but it was quite the opposite.
I am running a 10k on Sunday evening and am trying to put in a few extra miles here and there to get ready. I have never ran a 10k but think I will make out okay. If it is anything like tonight I felt like I could have run forever.

update, yo
I took Friday off.
I ran a 5k on saturday morning with a time of 20:29. I was pretty happy with the time and am finally starting to see some of the hardwork pay off. I'm hoping in the next month I'll be down in the sub 20's.
No running on Sunday. Recovery after a night of partying.
Monday - I plan to run a 45 minute fartlek. I'm not sure how this is going to go as I feel kinda of sick. I'm hoping this will pass and is just a lingering hangover.

quick update
8/2 - slow 10 miles down front street. Probably the most painful run I have ever been on.
8/3 - Wanted to rest but was too bored. Ran 4 miles. 1st - 8:30 2nd - 8 3rd - 8 4th - 6:45
8/4 - Ab Ripper(p90x) and 10 mile bike ride with Reedster.
Tomorrow I'm resting my legs for Saturday's 5k and Reed's 6:20 mile attempt. I feel 50 bucks coming my way.

running in the rain
I was debating on whether or not to run tonight. I slept like crap yesterday and there was a crazy thunderstorm which was the perfect excuse to skip tonight. I ended up making some dinner and the storm passed. I just ran today with no particular pace or distance in mind. I got out about 2 miles from my house and the storm came back! I picked up my pace a lot and made it home without getting struck by lightning.
I didn't feel good all day at work today. I ran 4 miles in the rain and now I feel great. It is amazing what a run can do and running the rain is even better. The trail gloves are great in the rain.
I only saw one other person out running. Makes you feel great when you realize you are the only person in the city braving the storm.

Rest Day
Took a day off from running today. I was at a cookout all day/night yesterday and needless to say I do not feel up to running. Had one too many beers!
I played soccer for about an hour and a half. Just got a smoothie at Juice and Java and am going to spend the rest of my night watching the X Games.
Signed up for a 5k on 8/6 and the harrisburg half which is on 9/11.

50 minute fartlek with my bro. We went out a little fast, slowed in the middle, and finished strong. We had a little detour because of gay pride week, but the only thing that caused was a lot of staring(or gazing) since we were shirtless. Overall a great run in hot weather.

Hills and Intervals
7/27 - 12 400m intervals at a 6:40-7 minute pace with 1:15 jog in between
7/28 - HILLS. Ran 3.5 miles of hills are varying inclines.
I think hills is the missing link to my training. I have been doing everything else. 200m intevals, 400m intervals, 800m intervals, long runs, fartleks, etc. I have left out hills just because I don't have any close to my house. I will not do that anymore and vow to run hills atleast once a week.
I was surprised how winded and fatigued I got from running up a fairly big hill. I expected the fatigue but not the cardio problems.
Tomorrow will be my day off. Heading to Hershey Park with my bro, Kayt, and my cousin. Saturday morning I'll be at it again.

First Post
I've created this blog to track my running progress over the next few months/years. I will not only be documenting my running but also whatever happens in my daily life. It may interest some people and bore others. Probably interest 5% of people and bore 95% depending on my candidness. If I said everything that happened in my life it would probably be more like 50/50.
I'm 27 years old and just took up running last year. I ran a 5k in April 2010 with a time of 26:XX barely edging out my step dad. Quite a humiliating experience. From that point on, I forced myself to become a better runner. Eventually I began to like running which I used to think was an almost idiotic statement. How could someone like running??
Running for me has become a way to relieve stress, meet new people, eat healthier, not drink so much, relax, and just enjoy all my surroundings. I try to instill my love for running on everyone I meet. I feel my passion for running will never fade, however I can't say that for sure. I can say that right now in my life when I don't run I feel like my day is not complete and it really bothers me. Running heals everything. I promise you that no matter who you are, if you go out and run as fast as you can for 30 minutes all your problems will fade for those 30 minutes.
Alright, well since this is my first post I'm not sure when to stop or what to do. I ran 10 400m intervals today at a 6 minute pace. It was pretty painful and I had to take an extra few minutes between one interval.
